MY COMMITMENT TO COLORADO

Hello, I'm Mo Dower, and I am honored to run for the Colorado State House District 64. With deep roots in our rural communities as a dedicated veterinarian, former Berthoud Trustee, and Mayor Pro Tem, I strive to ensure the needs of our residents are heard and addressed. My experiences have instilled in me a profound sense of duty to advocate for families, preserve our lands, and enhance our quality of life. Together, we can forge a brighter future for Colorado.
KEY ISSUES

Responsible Growth

Attainable Housing

Our mountains, open lands, ranches, and wildlife corridors define the character of Colorado, an irreplaceable home where we live, play and grow. As your representative, I vow to protect the natural resources and open vistas we love while stewarding the responsible development we need. I will support land-use policies that prioritize working farms and ranches while pursuing responsible development. By grounding decisions in science and supporting balanced growth, we can protect our lands and ensure Colorado maintains the natural beauty, wildlife habitat, and recreational opportunities that make this state great.

Something has gone wrong with the American Dream. Even with your hard work, the prospect of a fulfilling life and the security of home ownership is drifting further out of reach. For those who do own homes, rising insurance premiums, property taxes, metro district fees, and utility bills are swallowing more of the family paycheck. Meanwhile, many are trapped in a cycle of rent, unable to build equity for their future. The people of HD64, our teachers, first responders, and working families, deserve better. I'll work to deliver it.

Sustainable Water Use

In Colorado, water is the foundation for our agriculture, growth, and landscape. I oppose "buy and dry" practices that strip agricultural land of its water rights to fuel growth elsewhere. We cannot leave our towns and cities to solve water scarcity issues that developers create. In addition, I have concerns about data centers locating here without honest accounting of their water consumption. Water in this district belongs to the people who live here and the farmers who have stewarded it for generations. I will work to keep it that way.

Quality Education

Colorado ranks 46th in starting teacher pay and has underfunded its schools for forty years, not by accident, but by law. Our students deserve better. It shows up in our kids' classrooms: larger classes, teachers buying their own supplies, and programs being cut, including vocational training that provides a good career in the trades. In a state with a solid economy, that's not a resource problem; that's a priorities problem. As your representative, I'll work to secure stable, adequate funding and ensure every dollar is spent wisely.

Paths to Prosperity

"I know, up on top you are seeing great sights, but down at the bottom, we, too, should have rights." Yurtle the Turtle, Dr. Seuss

Since 1978, CEO compensation has grown over 1,000%, while typical worker pay grew only 26%. Our district is full of people who work hard for a living. Farmers, tradespeople, nurses, and families  are not looking for a handout, but a system that isn't tilted against them. As your representative, I'd push for wages that keep pace with the cost of living, ensure larger employers provide health insurance for more of their workers, make public universities affordable again, and support training in the trades, giving every student a path to a good career.
